Ode To My Wife The Painter by Anonymous

She learned to paint on Monday.
Her strokes were very fine.
She forgot to thaw out dinner,
So we went out to dine.

She painted dasies Tuesday.
She says they are a must.
They really were quite lovely,
But she forgot to dust.

On Wednesday, it was berries.
She says the blending's fun.
What highlights! Oh what shadows!
But the laundry wasn't done.

She painted apples Thursday.
So juicy, bright and red.
I guess she really was engrossed:
She never made the bed.

It was violets on Friday,
In colors she adores.
But she never seemed to notice
The crumbs on all the floors.

I found a maid on Saturday!
My week is now complete.
My wife can paint the hours away:
The house will still be neat.

Well, it's already Sunday.
But don't call me a Saint.
I cursed, I raved, I ranted:
The maid has learned to paint!

I first saw this poem in a thrift store book full of tole painting designs that someone had rewritten from the original anonymous version to match a Tole Painter. Another version out there is crafted for Quilters. I adjusted the poem for simply Painters, and then put it into MusicHero, which produced this nifty musical rendition.
