A Friend Indeed by J. B. MacKay

In the day of trial, in the hour of need,
I have found a friend indeed;
Yes a faithful friend, whom I have often tried,
Jesus who was crucified.

Soon this ever changing, restless life will cease,
And I'll reach the shores of peace;
Where the friends and loved ones waiting I shall see,
Saved through him who died for me.

When my soul was wildly beat, and tossed about,
On the waves of sin and doubt;
When I had no helper, and no hope I knew,
Jesus brought me safely through.

Soon this ever changing, restless life will cease,
And I'll reach the shores of peace;
Where the friends and loved ones waiting I shall see,
Saved through him who died for me.

Satan and his legions may my soul assail,
Ev'ry earthly friend may fail;
Honor, fame and riches, each in turn may flee,
Jesus will be true to me.

Soon this ever changing, restless life will cease,
And I'll reach the shores of peace;
Where the friends and loved ones waiting I shall see,
Saved through him who died for me.
